Profile of the Directors and Trustees of LYM
There are currently nine directors of Lincolnshire Youth Mission Ltd, with a huge range of business, charitable and youth work experience between them.
Nick Chambers - Chair
Nick is the Chief Executive of L.A.C.E. Housing Association, a
voluntary, non-profit making association with charitable status,
providing housing, care and support service for older people. Nick is a
Methodist and has actively supported youth work within the church for 24
years through the Methodist Association of Youth Clubs and Boys'
Brigade. At present, Nick is Chair of Governors at a Church of England
Primary School, director of Lincolnshire Chaplaincy Services, Trustee of
Frank Eccleshare Trust, Chair of Lincolnshire Care Association and
Lincolnshire Housing Forum.
The Revd Steve Faber - Vice Chair
Steve ministers at the United Reformed Churches in Sleaford and Boston.
He is also a Synod Mission Enabler for the United Reformed Church in the East
Midlands Synod, helping other URCs to define their mission and implement
strategies to achieve it. He has been involved in secular and Christian
youth leadership for a quarter of a century - dating back beyond the lifetime of
the people he works with! Before training for ministry in Cambridge, Steve
worked in IT, specialising in PC and network support. He is married to Linda
and they have six children.
The Revd Ian Silk - Vice Chair
Ian grew up in Bristol and studied Classics at Pembroke College, Cambridge.
Following a few years teaching English as a Foreign Language, Ian trained for
ordination in the Church of England. He was curate of St Giles, Lincoln,
and since 1993 has been Vicar of St George's, Swallowbeck, Lincoln. He was
Mayor's Chaplain in 2005-6. He has led or assisted in a number of
ecumenical and community projects in the City and County. He is married
with four sons (three of whom are teenagers). Ian's interests are
long-distance walking, history and music.
Andrew Argyle - Company Secretary
Andrew is a qualified solicitor, and attends St George's Church, Lincoln where he
is a member of the Parish Church Council. Andrew takes an interest in his community
through being, for example, a Trustee of the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance
Charitable Trust and a Governor of Lincoln College.
Michael Freeman - Treasurer
Michael is a qualified chartered public finance accountant (CIPFA) working
across the East Midlands, mainly in the NHS and Local Government, and he is
currently working towards an MSc in Accounting. Michael is also a
registered project manager practitioner. He was born in Nottingham and
went to school there. He then worked for 20 years with three county
councils, before moving to be Director of Finance within an NHS Trust in
Lincolnshire in 1990. He remained there for 10 years, before progressing
to become an independent consultant. Michael is married and has two
children, both currently at university.
The Revd Langley Mackrell-Hey
Langley is the Methodist Minister of four churches in the South Lincoln
circuit. He holds a BA in theology and Ministry, and an MA in Evangelism
Studies (with distinction). In 2005 he formed Shine Photographics and
Media, intent on raising the profile of faith through the power of image.
He is married to Ro and they have two children.
Elsie Hunt (a.k.a. Dr Elsie Fox)
Elsie was born and educated in Liverpool. She qualified as Doctor of
Medicine in 1963 and was a GP in Lincoln for over 30 years, and part-time
Medical Officer at St Barnabas Hospice from 1985 to 1992. Elsie retired in
2003. Elsie is Chairman and a counsellor at Lincoln Centre for
Counselling. She is married to John and grandmother to ten youngsters, and
worships at St George's, Lincoln, and at Lincoln Cathedral.
Martin Hodgkinson
Martin is a Methodist Local Preacher with a particular interest in charitable
community projects, partnerships with the business community and the benefits to
companies, its employees and the community/charity involved. Martin is
studying for a PhD at the Lincoln University School of Management. Martin
has a long and significant record in industry - he was a Senior Director at the
Simons Construction Group, introducing BS5750/ISO9000 accreditation to the Group
- the first in the building industry. Martin was a founding director of
LEAP. His other directorships include Lincolnshire YMCA, LAGAT/Quest
Group, AfPic and Cornerstone Connections. Martin is also chairman of HURT
Ltd, which is developing the Genesis Social Enterprise Centre in Alfreton,
Derbyshire.
Lesley Shapcott
Lesley is a qualified primary school teacher with over 30 years experience -
initially as a class teacher then as a specialist teacher with Lincolnshire
Learning Support Service, supporting children with special educational needs.
Her voluntary work experience includes being a youth club leader, Sunday School
Superintendent and Methodist Local Preacher.
