FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lincolnshire Youth Mission encourages young people to be high achievers:

Purpose-built climbing wall launched by Gillian Merron MP.

On Saturday, Lincolnshire Youth Mission celebrated the recent delivery of a climbing wall with its launch by Gillian Merron, MP for Lincoln. The event took place outside the West Front of Lincoln Cathedral. The wall will be used by the X-Factor Youth project in helping young people to grow in confidence as they become practiced in working together and overcoming difficulties.

The wall has been funded with a grant of £6,515 from The Lincolnshire Community Foundation in Sleaford. It has been supplied by Grafted, part of in2venture. Provided with the wall are two pedal powered go carts and the space to practice archery. Captain Rob Lowe, youth worker for the X-Factor Youth project says, "This equipment will help young people to reach new heights in both their day to day and Christian lives. It also offers educational value as the young people will have to be trained beforehand and learn about the protective clothing that they must wear as part of these activities. It will be of great value to our work with young people across Lincolnshire."

During the opening of the event Mrs Merron emphasised how the launch was not just an event marking the arrival of the wall. It was a celebration of how the leadership of Lincolnshire Youth Mission had come together to meet the spiritual, social and developing needs of young people. The X-Factor Project is a joint initiative between Methodist and Anglican Churches. It provides support to young people and their leaders in Washingborough, Moorland Park, Birchwood, Swallowbeck, Bassingham and Woodhall Spa. The organisation is staffed by volunteers from different Christian denominations working in partnership. It is seeking charitable status.
